Aino Aalto (1894-1949) was a Finnish architect, designer and one of the founders of Artek. Aino Aalto, whose maiden name was Marsio, graduated as an architect in 1920 and began her career in Helsinki working for architect Oiva Kallio.
Aino Aalto was closely involved in the development of Artek, both as a designer and as CEO. In many ways, Aino has laid the foundation for Artek's aesthetic, which combines the clear form of modernism with uncomplicated details.
Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) was a Finnish architect and designer who created an exceptionally broad and diverse career both in Finland and internationally.
Alvar Aalto's work was influenced by Finnish nature and tradition, as well as the history of architecture. Aalto was characterized by designing buildings as complete works of art.
