The Vitra Tabouret Bois stool was designed by Jean Prouvé during the Second World War. Jean Prouvé designed and implemented several interior projects for the chemical company Solvay. Numerous pieces of furniture were developed in connection with this commission, including this wooden stool. The solid wood components of the Tabouret Bois stool give it a sense of lightness and sophistication. Due to the scarcity of metal during the Second World War, the Tabouret Bois stool was designed to be manufactured with wooden legs.
