The Vitra Chronopak table clock stands out with its softly curved, futuristic shape, reminiscent of the space-age aesthetics of its time. The clock is designed not only to accurately measure time, but also to add a personal touch to your interior. Its quartz movement ensures reliable operation, while the clear dial and beautiful details make it a stylish eye-catcher for your desk, living room or bedroom.
In 1947, American designer George Nelson was commissioned to create a collection of clocks. When he received the commission, Nelson carefully analyzed people's relationship with clocks and how they read them. He found that people were satisfied with the direction the hands were pointing, and that there was no real need for numbers on the dial. Nelson also noticed that people mostly wore wristwatches and that wall clocks had become more of a decorative element.
These ideas and thoughts served as the basis for Nelson's collection of 14 clocks, which included completely new types of wall and table clocks. Introduced to the market in 1949, the clocks were all different from each other, but they all had one thing in common: the lack of numbers.
