Design House Stockholm Birds 1967 birds have been forgotten in a "desk drawer" for decades. Now, fortunately, Design House Stockholm has brought these birds into production and to brighten our days.
When Larson designed the bird figures in 1967, he was living in the small town of Sausalito, California, studying ceramics. At that time, hippie culture, bright colors, and anti-war protests were in full swing in America. The colorful birds seemed to come naturally during that time of “flower power,” when music was booming and the young generation was thirsting for freedom.
Lisa Larson's birds are almost like doves of peace and a reminder of a time when a young generation protested against war and dreamed of a new society. The birds now fly free and bring back some of the spirit of the 60s.
Lisa Larson (1931–2024) was a famous Swedish designer and ceramic artist, whose most famous decorative objects fetch hammer prices of several thousand euros at auctions.
