In collaboration with Dutch color and textile designer Hella Jongerius, Artek has created a new subtle color scheme and further developed its classic linen saddle belt in 2018. The new design utilizes color combination in which longitudinal warp threads are combined with transverse weft threads of different colors. This technique creates an almost three-dimensional effect in the fabric.

In the new shades, a black or natural-colored warp is combined with black, blue, white, brown or red wefts, for example. The belt is made from twisted linen threads in Germany, and to improve its durability, the material is pre-stretched after weaving, so that it remains tight and sturdy for long-term use.

Artek recommends that the chair's backrest and seat sections be re-belted at the same time to avoid any color differences in the linen. It is also normal for the belt to stretch slightly with use.
