Vitra Eames Elephant is Charles and Ray Eames designed the elephant in 1945. However, this particular piece was never put into production. A prototype was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1946 and remains in the Eames family archives today. After the first limited edition was released in 2007, Vitra began mass production of the Eames Elephant in plywood in 2018.
The Eames plywood Elephant is available in a dark version in European walnut and a light version in chestnut.
The charming giant animal is also available in the Eames Elephant RE version, which is made from recycled industrial plastic and is perfect for children. There is also a smaller version, the Eames Elephant (small) RE, made from the same material, both in a variety of colors.
