The Vitra Bascule Highback is a high-backed armchair designed by Studio Πthat combines a relaxed, soft aesthetic with thoughtful seating comfort. Its generous upholstery and loosely fitted cover give the chair an inviting and cozy character, while the clear structure keeps the overall design modern and balanced.

A key feature of the Bascule armchair is the seat mechanism developed by Vitra, which automatically adapts to the user's weight. The mechanism allows for natural movement while seated without the need for manual adjustments, making the chair a comfortable spot for reading, resting, or lounging for extended periods. The high backrest provides excellent support and emphasizes the protective, tranquil feel of the Highback version.

Designed by Studio Œ in 2026, the Bascule represents Vitra’s contemporary approach to lounge furniture: comfort, movement, and meticulously refined design forming a cohesive whole. The Bascule Highback is suitable for both living rooms and various lounge and relaxation areas. The series also includes the low-backed Bascule Lowback as well as ottoman and bench options that can be paired with the chair.
