The Vitra Akari 1A table lamp is one of Vitra's most iconic lamps. Japanese-American Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) began designing the light and airy Akari light sculptures in 1951. The name 'Akari' comes from the Japanese word for 'light,' and the lamps are made from traditional washi paper by Japanese artisans.
