Artek - Long-lasting classics
Artek was founded in 1935 to sell and market furniture designed by Alvar Aalto. Artek's founders,
Alvar and Aino Aalto, Nils-Gustav Hahl and Maire Gullichsen, published a manifesto written in the spirit of functionalism, according to which Artek's purpose was to "engage in the furniture trade and, through exhibitions and other means, promote modern housing culture."
Artek's original values – durability and high quality combined with a pure design language – are still at the core of the company. Artek's powerhouses Alvar and Aino Aalto created a warm and human style for modern interior design, in which nature was a great source of inspiration.
