Every bird is handmade, so slight variations may occur between individual pieces.

Kay Bojesen Story Bird Cosy charms with its warm, earthy tones and a hint of the iconic yellow found in Copenhagen’s Nyhavn district. Kay Bojesen - Kind-hearted animal figures

Kay Bojesen (1886-1958) is one of the most respected pioneers of the modern Danish design tradition. A carpenter and painter, Bojesen originally trained as a silversmith when he became interested in the possibilities of wood as a material in the 1930s. He designed a series of wooden animal figures, the appeal of which is based on the perfect harmony of the character of the figure and the childlike round, "smiling" shapes. The range includes, among others, Monkey, Hippopotamus, Zebra, Dog and various birds.

Bojesen's wooden toys are inspired by Nordic design and traditional craftsmanship. He wanted to design toys that would last and provide joy of play for both children and adults. Bojesen's wooden toys have gained popularity among players of all ages. One of Bojesen's most famous wooden toys is the "Kay Bojesen Monkey", which depicts a sitting monkey. It has become an iconic design object and symbolizes the timeless beauty of Danish design. The monkey is also available in Santa and graduation caps, depending on the occasion.

Kay Bojesen's legacy lives on, and the wooden toys he designed are now manufactured and sold under the Kay Bojesen Denmark brand. These toys are prized as collectibles and are also popular gifts for various occasions. Kay Bojesen's work has influenced the history of Nordic design and left its mark on the world of toys. The wooden toys he created are classic examples of Danish design and represent timeless beauty and playfulness. The iconic wooden toys inspire children and those with a childlike spirit with their expressiveness and skillful craftsmanship. Bojesen's wooden figures last from generation to generation and are guaranteed to bring joy and pleasure to their owner.
