Arto and Aila Viita-aho founded a carpet weaving factory in 1973 on the shore of Lappajärvi, in the village of Karvala. From the beginning, rag rugs were produced in the weaving house, later down and wool rugs, sisal, cotton and linen were added. VM Carpet still manufactures its carpets with the same friendly and honest attitude, which does not lack innovation. Good design has been invested in from the beginning, and kutomo has been cooperating with Finland's leading designers for 20 years.
