Fatboy – Playful design and relaxed living
Fatboy is a Dutch design brand known for its relaxed and insightful approach to home and outdoor decor.
The company's story began in 1998, when Finnish designer Jukka Setälä created the iconic Fatboy Original bean bag chair.
The name was inspired by the music of Fatboy Slim, which Setälä listened to during the design process .
In 2002, Dutch entrepreneur Alex Bergman saw the product's potential and brought it to market, starting Fatboy's journey into an international design phenomenon .
Fatboy's range has expanded from the original bean bag chair to include a diverse collection of furniture, lighting and interior design items for both indoor and outdoor use.
Well-known products include the Edison the Petit table lamp, the Headdemock hammock and the Lamzac inflatable lounge chair.
The brand's design philosophy is based on the idea that good design brings joy to everyday life and challenges traditional perceptions of home objects.
In 2021, Fatboy was acquired by the Italian Calligaris Group, which strengthened its position in the international market and enabled the development of an even wider product range.
